How I see myself
I see myself as a person with different facets which I have resumed in seven different components: Me as a language teacher, as a teacher, me as human being, as member of a society, as a woman, as professional and as part of a family, depending on the role I play in the environment where I interact with others. As language teacher I have knowledge about a foreign language, how to teach to learners, what are the goals of teaching a foreign language and all those things that are related with English teaching and learning.
As human being I am a person with feelings, someone who feels happiness, rage, tiredness, love, etc.
As part of a family I feel protected, loved and grateful for all the support and upbringing my parents and relatives have given me.
As member of a society I am aware of all those issues that establish how the world works.
As a teacher I have to deal with students of diverse personalities that are like stars, none is the same as the other; but also I have the opportunity to help building the future of my students.
As woman I have sensitivity to understand certain situations that affect my students and my family, and in my opinion, it is the main feature that sets us apart from men.
As a professional I value what I have achieved with effort and dedication.
This is the way I see myself, as a person who is composed by many different aspects and that value what I have and what I am because each one of those things have made me being the woman I am.

Nice picture, Katherine! We, the teachers, have many roles to play. They seem to be different but somehow they are all related and end up affecting our job. I think if we take the best of each one of them, this situation will be beneficial. ;)
ResponderEliminarHi Katherine.
ResponderEliminarI reaaly like your picture and your narrative explains in a very clear way what you thought. We as human beings has diverse facets as you mention in which we are involved all the time, and we have to take advantage of our personality to be succses and learn for each one.
Thanks for your reflective task.
Hi Katherine. No doubt teachers have different facets as well as a number of roles in our society. As agents of change we belong to a community that is dynamic and needs to be transformed. It is not only a matter of being aware about the issues how the world works but it is how can we build a new community with better citizens. As Eliza Fernanda and Yuli Paola state all those roles affect our job however, I wonder how can we through those roles, having in mind the main one, the role as teachers, how can we influence our pupils to become better citizens to make changes in their communities and in their lives?
ResponderEliminarHi Mauricio, first thanks for your comment and I think that each one of the roles we play as teachers and as persons allow us to get the experience to conduct our students to a different way to see the life firstly, helping them to be aware of the different and important roles they play in the society, secondly, making them to value their own culture and environment, and thirdly, that it is necessary they be aware of the reality that is around them in order to make desicions and think in a critical and autonomus way.
EliminarHi, Kathe your drawing is pretty, I like as you you show the different ways as you see yourself in the teaching process and that is true, we have different roles and the most important we have the commitment to fulfill all the functions of those agents in order to make our students comprehend the world and learn from the life to be each time better people and be successful in their decisions.
